Chapter 2
It was said a shot could drown a heartbreak, but all that fiery liquor did was burn down, making my eyes water. None of my pain faded away—if anything, I just felt worse.
Why did Yonas's betrayal still haunt me? It must be because I hadn't drunk enough yet.
So I kept pouring myself drink after drink. My mind grew foggy, and my head felt like it was splitting open.
Suddenly, I caught a familiar whiff of agarwood—the scent Yonas loved most.
It was like my mind was playing tricks on me, because it was as if I saw Yonas right there in front of me. He crouched down, took my hand, and asked, "Why are you drinking so much?"
That gentle voice made my nose sting with tears, and before I knew it, I was throwing my arms around him.
"Why? Why did you betray me?" I cried. "I really love you, and it hurts so much I can barely breathe, you know?"
I felt a large hand gently wiping away my torrent of tears. The alcohol really hit me, and I clung to him, crying and rambling drunkenly until I finally fell quiet.
I thought I heard a deep sigh from him. Then his strong, steady hands lifted me up. That familiar, soothing scent of agarwood filled my senses as I slowly drifted off to sleep.
When I woke up, I found myself alone in a hotel bed.
I let out a self-mocking laugh, figuring last night was probably just some drunk hallucination.
No one had ever listened to my drunk ramblings gently, and I'd never had a warm chest to lean on.
But there was still a faint trace of agarwood lingering at the tip of my nose.
I couldn't tell if it was just my imagination, or if something had really happened.
My head pounded from the hangover.
I grabbed my phone from the nightstand and opened it, only to see a message from Zelda.
It was a picture of a familiar kitchen island, with a beautifully arranged meal on it.
The caption read: [My husband's late-night snack is always delicious.]
My brain went blank—Yonas'd brought Zelda to our home?
My heart twisted in pain as the Comments exploded with congratulations.
[Yonas and Zelda's first night was amazing. He totally pampered her. She complained the mattress was too hard, and he immediately brought her to the home he shared with Shelley, even making her a late-night snack himself. Last night, right in his and Shelley's wedding bed, he had Zelda screaming all night long.]
[Zelda is worn out and still asleep, while Yonas is already up in the kitchen, cooking her a loving breakfast.]
[Shelley, whatever you do, don't go back and ruin the mood for Yonas and Zelda.]
That was my home. Why should I let the two waltz in and take over my place?
If the Comments were worried I'd mess things up for Yonas and Zelda, then I had to go back.
I stumbled out of the hotel, grabbed a cab, and rushed back. I pressed my thumb to the fingerprint lock and pushed open the door. Right away, I spotted things in the living room that definitely didn't belong to me.
With an icy face, I stepped over the clothes scattered all over the floor and headed straight upstairs.

In the bedroom, Yonas was feeding Zelda lovingly.
The two of them were lost in each other, eyes locked, practically sparking with chemistry.
With a loud bang, I kicked the door open, shattering their sweet little moment.
Leaning against the door, I stared Yonas down and enunciated every word, "Myles, why do you have a key to my house? And why did you bring your wife here with you?"
Yonas froze for a moment, clearly not expecting me to be out of the hospital so soon.
After all, I hadn't even been able to attend the funeral yesterday. By all logic, I should still be recovering in the hospital.
Upon hearing my questioning, Yonas lowered his head and stayed silent, looking embarrassed.
Zelda, with her bare shoulder peeking out from the covers, didn't look the slightest bit flustered. Instead, she curled her lips into a provocative smile at me.
I walked over to the bed and stared down at her. "Had a good night in my wedding bed? Want me to send it to you so you can enjoy it at home?
"Honestly, after all those years with Myles, I bet you never had a bed this nice, huh? So the moment my husband died, you just couldn't wait to swoop in and make yourself comfortable in my house. Tell me, Zelda, does it feel good using my things?"
Instantly, the smug look on Zelda's face disappeared. Her cheeks turned bright red, and she looked like she was about to cry. "Y-You..." she stammered.
Yonas cut in, looking concerned, "Shelley, why are you being so harsh? Zelda was just curious, no big deal."
I turned to him and sneered, "Why wouldn't I? My husband's barely cold in his grave, and you're already shamelessly fooling around with your wife in our bedroom. Aren't you afraid of becoming a joke if the word gets out?
"Out of respect for Yonas, I'll give you three minutes—pack your things and get out of my house!"
Yonas's expression darkened.
I locked eyes with him, enunciating every word. "Get out of my house right now, or I'm calling the police."
Yonas's face turned livid with anger, but he couldn't do anything about it.
After all, he was still playing Myles. He had zero grounds to argue with me. All he could do was grab Zelda and leave.
I felt sick to my stomach—those disgusting two had tainted the villa.
I couldn't stand being in such a gross place for even one more second, so I decided to move to another villa.
I planned to put it up for sale. It was still packed with Yonas' and my stuff, and sorting through it all would be a pain. So I told the agent to list it first, and if someone wanted to buy it, I'd handle the mess.
I quickly moved into a luxurious villa nearby and then headed to the bathroom.
After my shower, I saw a photo from Zelda showing off a huge, sparkling diamond ring on her slim finger.
She even texted me: [Shelley, check out this ring Myles got me. Isn't it amazing?]
