On New Year's Eve, all because my boyfriend added a song called "I Miss You" to our shared playlist, I boarded a high-speed train that very night and traveled 800 miles to his city. Back then, Derek Leonard and I were at the height of our love when I received the devastating news that my mother had cancer. After that, I turned down an offer from a major corporation, returned home, and began preparing for the civil service exam. When I left, Derek stood at the airport, looking at me with nothing but tenderness in his eyes. He said softly, "It's okay. Don't worry. Transportation is so convenient now. I'll fly over to see you every month." And so, Derek and I endured a long-distance relationship for a full seven years. The plane tickets from his visits piled up into a thick stack. But over the past six months, our contact grew less frequent. He would even take a long time to reply my messages. This time, I chose to give up everything and go see Derek and propose to him. What I never expected was that when I finally arrived at his home, Derek introduced me to his parents as a friend from out of town.
