Chapter 1
Both Jerry Gordon and I, Maggie Lambert, travelled back in time.
Now, he knew in advance that he would own a company worth a multi-billion dollar and that his name would take the top spot in Forbes.
The biggest regret of his previous life was that he couldn't spend his life with his first love, Grace Atkinson.
Therefore, he determinedly left our wedding to find Grace, who would take her first vows to be a nun on the very same day.
When I saw Jerry take off his wedding suit and run away from me, I realized that I had also traveled back in time.
The stylist was shocked.
Jerry's mother, May Gordon, stopped chatting with me and shouted, "Brat, the wedding will begin soon. Where are you going?"
I had the answer to her question.
Jerry always had a girl in his mind, and that was his first love in high school.
*****On the day when my wedding with him was held, the Atkinson family came down. Grace's father was sent to jail, and Grace's mother, grief-stricken, jumped to her death from a building on the very same night.
The next day, Grace, soaked to the bone, tried to seek help from Jerry.
Jerry's father, Tom Gordon, hated getting himself or his family into trouble, so he let his servants keep the news from Jerry and dismiss Grace.
Jerry had a big fight with his father after he found the truth. Then, he personally rented an apartment for Grace.
I thought that my relationship with Jerry was solid enough to offset the influence of his first love.
When my parents complained, I put in a good word for Jerry.
To my surprise, Jerry brought Grace home and asked me to take her in right after I had appeased my parents.
He said, "My dad has frozen all my money, so I can't afford that apartment anymore. I have no way out but to bring her here.
"She suffers from depression, so I can't turn my back on her. Maggie, you are kind, so you will help her, won't you?
"Relax. I am just trying to repay the favor she did me in high school. She and I are just friends. You are the woman I love."
Behind Jerry, Grace gripped his hand and looked apathetic.
Honestly, she and this whole mess had nothing to do with me.
She wanted to become a nun because of depression, and I was just the average person, not her psychiatrist.
Jerry was anxious to make arrangements for his first love and even tried to seek help from me, his wife, for that.
He called Grace his friend, but their hands had been locked together during the whole meeting. Their loving gazes were reserved for each other only.
I had those gazes when I looked at Jerry.
Before our wedding, I didn't know that Jerry still missed his first love.
My family had lived politics for three generations, and my dad was now a high-ranking official. My mom had started from scratch and was now the richest woman in town. People would love to be friends with us.
My dad told my mom to arrange a blind date for me the moment he perceived that the grandson of his superior was interested in me.
Jerry, a graduate of a prestigious university, came from a well-off family and had beautiful eyes.
When he showed me a soft smile, I was completely bewitched.
I fell in love at first sight, so I decided to marry him as my parents wished.
Before our wedding, he bought me a lot of things, such as a bouquet and a pair of beautiful and comfortable high heels. He came to pick me up when I stayed out late with my friends.
Additionally, he often checked in with me. He was so thoughtful.
As time ticked by, I had grown on him.
Before we got married, he pledged to my parents that I was the only woman he loved.
Therefore, I was furious when he hurried away to meet his first love.
I quickly invited my parents and his over for a discussion.
My parents loved each other and doted on me, so what Jerry had done disgusted them.
Tom and May attached great importance to my parents' help to their business, so they hated seeing Jerry break my heart.
As a result, Tom gave Jerry a hard kick right in front of two families.
My dad threatened that there would be no place for the Gordon family in Moonland if Jerry insisted on taking Grace in.
Shedding tears, Grace said that she didn't want to be Jerry's burden. Then, she ran to a convent and later became a nun there.
Because of this farce, Jerry had said nothing to me for the next few days. Sorrowful, I gave in first.
I personally donated a large sum of money for the renovation of the convent where Grace was. Thus, Grace began a good life in her redecorated room.
Only then did Jerry agree to make peace with me.
I never thought that Grace would have a relapse of depression and kill herself over the jealousy of other nuns one day.
