Chapter 4

The maid walked in carrying a tray of fruit, eyeing me cautiously.

"Mr. Sinclair..." she said.

"Yes?" I replied.

"Mrs. Harris has lost a lot of weight these past few months. She barely eats, and she can't sleep well at night," the maid said.

My fingers tightened around the cup.

"How often does Edward come back?" I asked.

The maid hesitated.

"Two or three times a week, maybe. Sometimes he doesn't come back all week," she replied.

"And what usually happens when he comes back?" I pressed.

"When he comes back..." she looked down. "Sometimes they fight."

I stood up.
