On our third wedding anniversary, I stumbled across a post from my best friend, Daisy Morrison. It was a photo of a marriage certificate. I liked it without thinking, then zoomed in, curious at last to see the “perfect husband" she'd always kept mysterious. The names on the certificate stopped me cold. Daisy Morrison, and my husband, Simon Morrison. The issue date matched mine exactly. I glanced toward the safe, where my own marriage certificate with Simon lay locked away, as if it might somehow contradict what I was seeing. In the comments, his friends were celebrating. [Congrats, Simon and Daisy. Happy third anniversary!] [Word is Daisy's pregnant too. This is a blessing!] And just like that, everything clicked. Those dinners. The way they called me Daphne. The faint hesitation in their eyes. My fingers shook as I dialed Simon's number. The call connected. But the voice that answered wasn't his. It was Daisy's. Daisy said, “Daphne, do you like the anniversary surprise?"
