Chapter 3
I first met Weston Robinson during our training years at the Moonstone Pack’s warrior academy. He was already a prominent figure back then, the future Alpha of the pack. Raised solely by his mother, Miriam, after the dissolution of her mate bond with his father, Weston grew up with a certain recklessness. Miriam, the former Luna, was a respected figure, but her duties often left her too occupied to rein in his impulsive nature. Instead, she ensured he had everything he needed, which only fueled his brash demeanor. Most pack members kept their distance, wary of his unpredictable temper. I was no exception. He was the kind of warrior who gave the Gamma headaches, and I naturally avoided him.
Yet, for some reason, perhaps because I was seen as a disciplined and dedicated Delta, he took an interest in me. He persistently invited me to join him for training sessions, pack runs, and even hunts. On full moon nights, he’d ask me to run with him, his wolf form towering and commanding. Gifts during pack celebrations were constant—a rare herb, a finely crafted dagger, or a piece of jewelry. Although I politely declined most of his offers, his determination never wavered. Curious, I finally asked him why.
“Because you’re different,” he replied, his voice steady but with a hint of vulnerability. “Others either fear me or want something from me because of my title. But you… you treat me like I’m just another warrior. I just want a genuine friend.”
In that moment, the loneliness in his eyes struck me. I realized that beneath his Alpha aura and commanding presence, he was just a young wolf craving connection. With this realization, I nodded at him.
“Alright then, from today, I’ll be your friend. My name is Viviana Robinson, by the way.”
Weston’s lips curved into a rare, genuine smile, and for the first time, I saw the warmth behind his usually stern expression.
From that day forward, we became inseparable. We trained together, patrolled the borders, and explored the vast territories of the Moonstone Pack. He even took me on hunts, teaching me strategies that only an Alpha would know. Pack members whispered about us, and even the Gamma warned me to be cautious. Everyone assumed he was just toying with me and would eventually lose interest. But I could see the sincerity in him. The more time I spent with him, the more I understood his loneliness. Despite his title and power, he was deeply alone. He had grown up without a father figure and lacked a true friend. He deserved loyalty and love.
For him, I even turned down an offer to join the elite warriors of the rival Shadowclaw Pack, choosing instead to stay by his side. When he ascended to Alpha after his father’s passing, he asked me to be his Beta. I accepted, knowing it was a role that would keep me close to him. It was through this position that I met his mother, Miriam, the former Luna. In the grand hall of the packhouse, she took my hand, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
“Viviana, thank you for staying by Weston. He’s changed so much—I can see he truly values you. I’m not the mother I should have been, but I plead with you to stay by his side. I just want him to be happy.”
She was a devoted mother, and I couldn’t refuse her plea. Besides, I had grown to care deeply for Weston. So, I accepted her request and remained by his side. But it was later that I discovered Miriam had been diagnosed with a rare werewolf illness. Knowing her time was short, her only concern was her son. On her deathbed, she called me to her side, her grip weak but her voice firm.
“Promise me, Viviana. Promise me you’ll stay with him. He needs you.”
I promised her, and only then did she close her eyes, her body finally at peace.
In honor of my promise to Miriam, Weston and I completed the mate bond. The ceremony was held under the full moon, the pack gathered to witness the union. As he marked me, his teeth sinking into my neck, I felt the bond solidify, a deep connection that tied our souls together. Weston wasn’t fond of the responsibilities of being Alpha; though he held the title, I handled most of the pack’s affairs. I did this willingly because my love for him was unwavering. On nights when I was exhausted from managing the pack, he would stand behind me, his hands gently massaging my shoulders, his voice a low murmur in my ear.
“You’ve worked so hard, my Luna. Don’t worry, I’ll always protect you. No one will ever hurt you.”
Yet now, he’s the one who has hurt me the most.
