A few days after my birthday, the weather got colder, and it even started to rain.

My dad had been super busy lately—he came home really late every night.

I wanted to talk to him, but he looked so tired all the time. He just waved at me and told me to play alone.

That evening, the rain was coming down in buckets.

Emily went to pick Lucas up from his class and told me to stay home and wait.
