I stared at the text, my brain completely jammed.

One version of my wife was standing outside my door.

That thing from earlier had said she was in the elevator.

And now this text was saying she was in the elevator too.

So which one was real?

The doorbell rang again.

"David, if you don't open this door right now, I'm gonna get pissed," the voice outside said, sounding a little impatient. "It's freezing out here. I've been working till midnight, and you're really making me stand at the door?"
