While inventorying my assets, my lawyer couldn't hide a hint of regret.

"That company has substantial market value, Ms. Martens. It's truly a shame to let it go. With that prenup, we could have secured full ownership of the company."

I shook my head. "Managing and investing in the company is just too much of a drain. Even selling it would take at least a year or two of audits and accounting. Honestly, it's just not worth the trouble."

"True enough," my lawyer countered, "but that company is currently in excellent operational condition. It might even go public..."
