My phone was sitting in my coat pocket and nearly slipped out, but Barrett reacted quickly and caught it for me.

I was still groggy when a blaring ringtone suddenly snapped me awake.

The bus was crowded, and Barrett and I were squeezed in side by side. I could clearly feel his whole body suddenly go rigid in that moment.

The ringtone kept blaring stubbornly for what felt like forever before Barrett finally leaned in and whispered to me.
