Sara nodded, still not really getting it.

After the party, I made my way toward Lakesurge Estate.

When I passed the pond, I paused.

Under the moonlight, the pond was silent.

The water was dark and murky; nothing could be seen.

But I caught a sound.

It was faint, barely audible.

It sounded like someone was struggling in the water.

I glanced in that direction.

There was a figure by the edge of the pond, flailing in the water.

It was Martha.

At first, it looked like she'd just fallen into the water.

Wait, that wasn't it.

She didn't fall.
