Chapter 4
Regina's smile was radiant, but the way she looked at me was pure provocation.
My parents always said everything they had was meant for me.
But now, I guess it'd already changed hands.
Seeing I was still silent, Bradley gently reached for my hand.
"I made a reservation at a restaurant. How about I take you out for dinner?" Bradley said, his voice gentle.
His touch instantly brought back the image of him holding Regina close, kissing her.
I instinctively pulled my hand away.
He paused for a moment, said nothing, then quietly led me to the car.
At the upscale restaurant, Regina was busy socializing with her clients.
A few clients kept raising their glasses to her, and Bradley hurried over right away.
"What a coincidence, everyone. Since fate brought us together, let's all have a drink," Bradley said.
He kept shielding Regina from the drinks, knocking back glass after glass himself.
Bradley's stomach was always sensitive.
Whenever there were business dinners, I was the one who drank for him.
But now, Bradley, who used to never touch a drop, was knocking back drinks for Regina until his face turned pale.
I couldn't hold it in anymore and pulled him back.
"Come on, stop drinking. Your stomach can't handle this," I said.
He was already tipsy, pulled me close by the waist, and whispered in my ear, "Relax, Regina. As long as I'm here, no one will ever bully you."
Regina? The name echoed in my mind, and I froze on the spot.
Regina gave me a taunting look, raised her eyebrow, and mouthed the words at me, "You lost."
She taunted on, "This family is actually happier without you."
My eyes widened, anger crashing over me like a wave.
But deep down, I knew—everything that's happened these past few days just proves I don't matter at all.
I gritted my teeth, stubbornly refusing to give in.
"You're nothing but a fake. What are you so smug about?" I snapped.
With that, I helped Bradley toward the door, and Regina trailed after us.
She looked out the door, a smirk playing at her lips.
"Oh, really? Then let me show you who's truly unloved and fake around here," she taunted.
The next moment, Regina grabbed my hand and suddenly lurched forward, making it look like I'd shoved her. She went tumbling down the restaurant stairs, putting on a perfect show.
She cried out in pain, her voice trembling. "It's all my fault, Mom, Dad! Please, don't blame my Sabrina."
I was slapped hard across the face before I could even react.
I didn't even notice when my parents appeared at the restaurant entrance.
Mom's eyes were red as she screamed at me, "Regina's pregnant! How could you still bully her? If anything happens to her, you're out of this family!"
Dad's hand was still trembling after hitting me, his face twisted with fury.
"How did I end up with such a cruel daughter? I wish Regina were my real child instead of you," he snapped.
Bradley, who had been totally out of it just moments ago, snapped out of his drunken haze. He rushed over and cradled Regina in his arms.
Before getting into the car, he gave me a look that could kill.
The sheer hatred in his eyes nearly crushed me.
As I watched them drive away, my throat tightened with bitterness.
My last shred of hope was run over and ground into nothing beneath their tires.
I sank down onto the stairs, letting the rain drench my hair—at this point, I couldn't even tell if it was rain or tears streaming down my face.
After a while, I let out a weary sigh. "System, just send me back to the mission world. I don't want to stay here anymore."
