Chapter 1
After I completed the mission, I returned to my world.
When I woke up, the first thing I saw was my parents, their eyes red, calling out to me, their voices trembling with excitement.
Even my usually composed husband shed a tear.
I hugged my son, Derek, feeling deeply moved. Just as I was about to tell the System I wanted to stay, Regina suddenly burst into the room.
"Don't touch me! My mom will get mad!" Derek suddenly shoved me away and ran straight into Regina's arms.
Regina smirked, looking every bit the victor.
Just moments ago, my family had been caring for me, but now they were all gathered around her.
I was silent for a long moment, then said to the System, "Send me back."
When I opened my eyes, I saw Regina tearfully trying to leave.
Regina sobbed, "Now that Sabrina's back, I guess it's time for me, the imposter who took her place, to go..."
My parents, faces full of concern, quickly grabbed her. "Regina, don't say such nonsense. You're our precious girl, there's no way you ever took anyone's place."
Even my husband, Bradley Vega, spoke up for her. "Yeah, Regina, if it hadn't been for you these past three years, Derek and I would've fallen apart."
Derek suddenly shoved me aside and clung to Regina's sleeve. "Mom, I can't live without you."
I collapsed onto the floor, stunned, just watching everything unfold in front of me.
It felt like someone had stabbed me in the heart, my eyes burning with tears I couldn't shed.
It was a long time before anyone even realized I was still there, lying on the floor.
Bradley quickly scooped me up and laid me back on the bed.
He apologized, his voice full of guilt. "I'm sorry, Sabrina. Derek didn't mean to push you."
My parents looked embarrassed and hurried to smooth things over.
"Yeah, while you were in a coma, Regina was the one who stayed by our side," my mom said.
"Regina is our adopted daughter now, and she's your sister," my dad added.
Three years ago, my parents promised that once they brought me, their real daughter, back home, they'd send Regina back to her own family.
But now, she was wearing the family heirloom bracelet Mom gave me.
"Sabrina, if you don't want me around, I'll go," Regina sniffled, making a show of leaving.
I was practically blinded by the diamond ring sparkling on her finger.
That was the engagement ring Bradley had proposed to me with, the one he'd designed just for me.
The engagement ring that was meant for me now sat on Regina's finger.
I closed my eyes, and a sharp ache burst through the darkness inside me.
I pleaded with the System, "Just give me a little more time to think."
The System traded some of my points for three extra days to decide, then fell silent.
When I didn't respond, Regina's tears welled up again. "I knew it, Sabrina. You never wanted to accept me. I'm leaving."
With that, she spun around and headed for the door.
My parents rushed after her, but paused, suddenly remembering me, and called out, "We're just afraid Regina might do something stupid. We'll be right back!"
Derek gave me a sharp look, then bolted after her. "I'm going with you, Mom!"
Bradley jumped up, too, but when he caught my gaze, he awkwardly grabbed the water glass from the table and handed it to me.
"Sabrina, don't think too much. You know you're the one we love most," he said.
His voice was as gentle as always, but his eyes kept darting toward the door—seven times in a row.
The steam from the hot water made my eyes sting, and I nearly started crying.
These past three years, the System's missions were tough. There were countless times I wanted to give up.
But whenever I thought about my loving parents, Bradley, who always stood by me, and my sweet little Derek, I found the strength to keep going.
But now, I couldn't help but wonder—was everything I'd held onto really the right thing?
Soon, Bradley got a message from my parents and let out a sigh of relief.
He brought me back to our wedding suite, and the moment he opened the door, I was stunned.
Bradley noticed my reaction and nervously pressed his lips together.
"Maybe we should head to the dining room first, and come back later..." he suggested.
I didn't wait for him to finish—I was already stepping into the room.
There were traces of Regina everywhere in our wedding suite.
Even our wedding photo now had Regina's face in it.
Bradley turned pale and rushed to explain, "Sabrina, please, let me explain..."
