Chapter 4

The room went quiet, leaving only the hum of the printer.

I slid the agreement from under Nora's hand and passed it to the staff. "I don't regret it," I said.

Nora's hand lingered in the air, now empty.

The decree of divorce was quickly issued. I glanced at it, then tucked one copy into my document pouch.

Nora remained seated.

"Let's go," I said, standing up and heading for the door.

She caught up to me at the hallway entrance, grabbing my arm. "What's with that attitude?"

"The paperwork's done. What more do you want?"

"At least let's have…
