"Did you hear what the doctor said?" Jerry probed.

Laurel smirked sarcastically. "I didn't hear a thing. Wasn't it just you in the room?"

Hearing her say that, Jerry let out a sigh of relief.

He hesitated before saying, "Laurel, you're pregnant, two months along now. But the doctor told me the baby might not be growing right and suggested we get rid of it. Are you okay with that?"

Guilt gnawed at Jerry. He knew Laurel had been hoping for a child of their own for a long time. But for Randall's sake, he had no choice.
