Charles had me escorted back to the bedroom.

They called it bed rest, but two bodyguards now stood watch outside the door.

The windows had been locked shut, my phone confiscated, and even the landline on the nightstand had been unplugged by the butler.

I sat on the edge of the bed and stared at the tray of prenatal pills beside me.

The maid, Susan, walked in with a plate of dessert, but her tone carried none of the gentleness it used to. "Madam, Mr. Grant said you need to finish the full course of medication."
