The conference room was dead silent.

Everyone's eyes kept darting between Andrew and me.

Andrew stared at me, his eyes bloodshot and his lips trembling.

"Claire, Bright Horizon Capital is yours?" he asked.

I didn't answer him.

Instead, I turned to Richard Warren, the independent director presiding over the meeting.

"Mr. Warren, can we get started?" I asked.

Richard shot a glance at Andrew, then at me, and cleared his throat.

"Alright then, could someone from Bright Horizon Capital walk us through your investment proposal?" he said.
