Chapter 1
Chapter 1 Too Late, Mr. Stone
Luna Quinn married a no-name extra with the roughly 1.7 million dollars her parents left her. Everyone said she'd lost her mind, but she loved Leo Stone with all her heart.
In just two years, she went from a pampered heiress to Mrs. Stone, scrambling for marked-down vegetables, while Leo rocketed from background extra to the man in charge of a media empire. Once he made it, he put Luna on a pedestal and treated her like the most precious woman alive. When she threw a tantrum, he smiled and coaxed her. When she smashed things, he bought her even pricier ones to smash. No matter what Luna did, Leo always indulged her.
Everyone in the industry said Luna had suffered for two years only to earn a lifetime of being spoiled by her husband. Even Luna believed it herself, until that streamer showed up.
All Luna had done was find a video on Leo's phone of that girl dancing for him. In a burst of anger, she'd made the girl lose her job. But this time, Leo didn't come up behind her, wrap his arms around her, and say, "Honey, I was wrong." Instead, he slammed the door and walked out, letting the rumors about himself and the streamer take over the trending charts.
The media swarmed the gates of the Stone residence like sharks smelling blood. The entire internet went wild, and Luna had to run until one heel came off before she finally lost them. Before she'd even caught her breath, she rushed straight to Stone Media Tower to demand an explanation from Leo. But before she reached the office, laughter leaked out from inside.
"Mr. Stone, aren't you going home to calm your wife down? Aren't you afraid she'll storm into the office again and point a finger in your face, saying you're into women who throw themselves at men..." Before he could finish, the pen in Leo's hand snapped with a crack, and he shut up at once.
Pressed against the wall by the door, Luna watched Leo toss the broken pen aside and sweep the room with a cool glance. The light flashed off his rimless glasses, hiding any hint of emotion. As if he'd just remembered something funny, he let out a cold laugh. "Throwing herself at men? Is she talking about herself?"
"She didn't ask me for a damn thing. No house, no car, nothing. At twenty, she showed up with her parents' inheritance, and even after getting kicked out, she still insisted on marrying me. She could live in a basement and still smile. Ava only danced for me once on a livestream, and Luna made such a scene the whole world thinks Ava is throwing herself at me. Then what does that make Luna? A damn doormat?"
Just a few days ago, he'd thanked her with red eyes and said he wouldn't be where he was without Luna. And now he was grinding her into the dirt. Her mind went blank, and her hands wouldn't stop shaking. Inside the office, silence fell too. After a long while, someone finally laughed awkwardly and tried to smooth things over.
"Mr. Stone, what are you saying? That was just anger talking, right? Mrs. Stone gave everything to help you back then. Everyone envied how lucky you were. You two were the perfect couple in everyone's eyes..."
"It wasn't anger talking." Leo cut him off and rubbed his brow. "I'm really tired. Just because I took her about 1.7 million dollars, I dated her for two years and stayed married to her for five. That's seven whole years. Tell me, when haven't I spoiled her?"
