"Let's break up," I said.

A flicker of surprise flashed in Finn's eyes, then quickly turned into a mocking look.

He took his time tying his towel and lit a cigarette. "Are you sure about this? Once you walk out that door, there's no easy return."

"Yeah, I'm sure," I said.

The door slammed shut behind me.

I looked at the handwritten note tucked into the cake box and just found it ironic.

That was our first fight and the first time I tried to get out of this relationship.
