Chapter 2
As soon as Brian finished speaking, a wave of excruciating pain crashed over me, and all the memories from this timeline came rushing into my head.
As Brian said, we were happy together once.
To make up for leaving me behind at the engagement ceremony, he made it up to me by giving me two grand weddings.
One was a modern-style wedding full of romance, and the other was a traditional celebration dripping with luxury.
But when I was at my happiest, I got the news that my parents' flight home had crashed.
The shock hit me so hard that I passed out on the spot.
When I woke up, I was put in the hospital room next to my parents because I was having a miscarriage.
I couldn't keep anything down, and my whole body was covered in bruises from all the shots to save the baby. I was too weak to even step out of my hospital room.
When I was falling apart, Brian pulled me into his arms and held me tight.
He said softly, "Hannah, we're husband and wife. Your problems are my problems.
"Don't cry. I've got you. Everything will be alright with me here."
He handled my hospital admission smoothly, reached out to top specialists, and even took a year off work for me.
He cooked nutritious meals tailored for pregnancy, brought me fresh, dew-kissed flowers every morning and evening, and never missed a day reading stories to our baby.
Slowly, my pregnancy stabilized, and my parents started to get better, too.
Then, on the day the doctor said my parents were about to wake up, I struggled to keep myself upright and went next door to check on them.
The moment I pushed the door open, I saw Brian and Kenna so wrapped up in each other that they couldn't pull apart, kissing as if nothing else mattered.
Three hours earlier, Brian had texted me asking what I wanted to eat.
And now, in front of my parents' hospital beds, he was pressed up against Kenna, moving with frantic urgency.
A strand of saliva trailed between them, hungrily licked away in their feverish kiss.
Nausea spread from my chest to every inch of my body, and my stomach felt like it was being ripped apart.
At that moment, my parents slowly opened their eyes and caught Brian and Kenna locked together beside their beds.
Their eyes burned red with hatred, their faces turned a sickly shade of purple with fury, and their hands shook uncontrollably.
"How could you... How dare you..." my dad stammered, his voice shaking with fury.
Panic gripped my heart, and I stumbled out, desperately calling for the doctor.
But it was too late. The heart monitor jumped twice and then fell into a deadly silence, flatlining.
The doctor's voice was icy as he declared, "This time, there's no hope of them waking up again."
At that moment, I didn't care about the baby inside me anymore. I lunged at them, wanting to rip them to shreds.
I screamed, "Why? What did I do wrong? What did my parents do to you?
"You really couldn't control yourselves? Why must you do it right here, in front of my parents?"
Brian let me kick, scratch, and claw at him, but as soon as I accidentally brushed against Kenna, he jerked his arm and threw me off.
My stomach crashed painfully into the corner of the table, and that was how the baby was gone.
He pulled me into his arms, guilt all over his face, gently calling for the doctor, but his words were cold and ruthless.
Brian said, "If we weren't trying to keep it from you, we never would've done it here.
"It's better you caught us. Saves us the trouble of hiding it anymore.
"The day I told you I loved you, I had sex with Kenna next door.
"Losing your baby doesn't matter. Kenna and I already have kids, and when they get older, you can play godmother."
The taste of blood spread in my mouth, and I forced myself to vomit it out, choking on the pain.
Brian's hand shook as he tried to help me wipe it away, but I smacked his hand aside with all the strength I had left.
Hatred flooded my eyes, so fierce that it felt like I could cry tears of blood.
"I won't let you two get away with this," I growled, my voice shaking with fury.
I exposed everything to every media outlet I could reach. I wanted to destroy their reputation and make sure they lost everything.
Brian didn't try to stop me as I went all out for revenge. Apology gifts kept pouring in, one after another, as if that could somehow fix everything.
But when Kenna couldn't handle the shame of being called the homewrecker and started making a scene, threatening to cut her wrists, Brian finally caved.
He registered their marriage overseas and announced to everyone online that Kenna was the only woman he'd call his wife.
With Kenna crying in front of him, Brian used his position as my husband to arrange a psychiatric evaluation.
Then, he personally committed me to a mental hospital.
For three years, I endured electric shocks, beatings, and even had to scramble with dogs for scraps of food.
I went through every kind of hell.
Kenna stole everything from me and became the Mrs. Dawson everyone envied.
Reliving those three years of hell only took a few seconds.
But the scars they left on me were so overwhelming that I was shaking all over, barely able to stand upright.
Brian stepped forward and gently wiped the sweat from my forehead, his voice tentative, almost probing.
"Hannah, you wouldn't know about those three years, would you?" he asked.
