No, I was worse than invisible.

Invisible people weren't talked about.

I became a ghost.

"Did you hear Victoria went over Emilia's head?" I overheard once.

"Serves her right," another voice said. "So ungrateful."

"After everything Emilia did for her..."

"Some people just can't be trusted."

I heard things like that in the bathroom, outside the break room, by the elevator, over and over.

I never defended myself.

What was the point?

To them, Emilia was the veteran, the mentor, the leader who treated them well.
