I kissed Cynthia's chubby little cheeks again. "Mommy will always trust you, honey."

After spending some time together, Cynthia had started to trust me a lot more. She snuggled into my shoulder, quietly sobbing.

I soothed her gently until she calmed down, then let her go. "Honey, Mommy has to head to work now. I'll see you tonight."

Cynthia took a deep breath to calm herself and nodded softly. "Okay. See you tonight, Mommy."

Robert stomped his foot in frustration. "Mommy, you're being biased. She did something wrong, and you're not punishing her!"
