Chapter 5
I was pregnant.
Eight weeks.
I had no idea who the father was.
But I knew one thing for sure—it wasn't Ethan's.
We always used protection.
The moment Ethan saw the test results, his expression turned icy cold.
He closed in on me, step by step, until my back hit the wall and I had nowhere left to go.
Panic hit me. I tried to shove him away and make a run for it, but he dragged me right back.
He grabbed my chin, his face full of anguish as he demanded, "Whose baby is it?"
The problem was, I didn't know either!
When I saw how scary her looked, the tears just burst out of me.
I was still a kid myself. How could I be having a kid?
The system replied coldly, "Chill, you're not actually pregnant. I just tweaked the test results a little. Now stay put. Once Ethan dumps you and the heroine shows up, you can bow out in style."
Ethan panicked the moment he saw me crying.
He gently wiped away my tears and pulled me into his arms, soothing me. "You can have the baby, but it has to take my last name."
That left both me and the system speechless.
Ethan was scared I'd take off with the baby's real dad, so he kept me locked up at home.
I just wanted to fake my death and vanish for good.
The system told me to hang in there a bit longer. The female lead finally showed up, so it wouldn't be long before Ethan dumped me.
Days crawled by.
I kept waiting and waiting. My stomach was starting to round out. Tiffany had settled into her new life. I was still locked up in that rundown little basement.
I nibbled on the fruit platter Ethan had carefully arranged for me earlier, feeling totally down.
That night, I was just drifting off to sleep when he crept onto my bed, acting all sneaky.
He carefully placed his hand on my belly, his tone vague and a little awkward. "Is the baby showing yet?"
I jolted awake, wide-eyed with panic.
Oh god, it was not a baby bump, but a snack bump. I tried to reassure myself.
I started bugging the system. "System, do something! If this keeps up, I'm seriously doomed. Tiffany's still waiting to blow her secret cash with me."
But the system just went totally silent.
It was getting weaker by the day.
I knew that if I didn't complete my mission to torment Ethan, this world would erase me for good.
In the end, it was Tiffany who sensed something was wrong and made the first move.
She showed up like a one-woman rescue squad, brought backup, broke the lock, and got me out.
I clung to her leg and asked, "Should we make a run for it?"
She gave a sly grin. "Let's go catch him red-handed."

Right then, Ethan was out celebrating with his crew from work.
When Tiffany dragged me to the hotel, he and the real heroine were passed out on the bed, all tangled up together and reeking of booze.
Honestly, I wasn't even surprised.
A guy like him was always meant for the sweet heroine, not someone like me—the useless villainess.
Tiffany shot a look, and one of the bodyguards quickly filled a basin with water and splashed it right in his face.
Ethan's eyes snapped open, and he rolled and crawled off the bed, ending up at my feet.
He clung to my pant leg, his voice frantic. "Babe, it's not what it looks like! Nothing happened between me and her."
Tiffany stepped up and kicked him aside. "I'm here to take my brother's wife home. Get your hands off her. Who do you think you are?"
The system shrieked in my ear, "Finally, the plot's back on track! Damn it. Your sister was supposed to be the villainess I chose."
I followed Tiffany out, not even glancing back.
Ethan's eyes went wild and red, and he made a crazed dash straight for me.
The bodyguards jumped in and slammed him to the floor.
With his desperate screams echoing behind me, I disappeared from his world forever.
