Chapter 3

"Hey, why are you crying? Did someone bully you?" Edward's voice was soft, worried.

He wiped the tears from my cheeks, his brow furrowed.

I looked at him, smiling through tears. I shook my head. "Ed, let's go home."

I'd moved on. My old life and everyone in it—better left in the past.

I turned to leave, missing the way Edward's face went cold behind me.

He came over and took my hand. "Charlie, no one messes with my wife. If anyone tries, they'll regret it for the rest of their lives."

I nodded, but didn't think much of it.
