The red ribbon dropped to the floor, revealing a cabinet packed with documents and meds.

This was the care cabinet I'd put together for Helen, covering her needs all year round.

The top drawer had diet charts, the second held follow-up records, the third was for blood sugar logs, and the bottom was stuffed with emergency supplies.

Each drawer was numbered.

When to check blood sugar, when to eat, what to grab first if her blood sugar crashed... Everything was spelled out in detail.

More than three hundred labels were stuck to the inside of the cabinet door.
