David, Frank's son, looked like he was about to cry right there. "Dr. Shepherd," he said, voice thick with emotion, "I've taken my dad to so many hospitals, no one was willing to operate. What you did—it's nothing short of a miracle."

I waved it off. "Really, it's just my job. I only did what any surgeon would've done."
