That night, in bed, I scratched Eli and even sank my teeth into his skin.

He flew into a rage there and called me a little vixen.

I felt a bit embarrassed, but tried to keep my cool. "Mr. Brooks, you shouldn't have come to me."

Eli lifted my chin, stared me down, and said, "If you stay with me, I'll give you a generous amount of money."

Sure enough, he had looked into my background.

Of course, I was strapped for cash, living in a run-down neighborhood like this.
