The next morning, I headed back to school.

Derek wanted to give me a ride, but I turned him down.

I didn't want everyone at school seeing me step out of a fancy car. I didn't want more gossip.

When I got to the school gate, I ran into Mia.

She froze for a second when she saw me. Then she rushed over and hugged me tight.

"Nina, where the hell have you been?" she asked. "I heard that Winona was giving you a hard time yesterday.
