With no one around to keep things in order, the house was a total mess.

David was at his wit's end with me, so he called Rachel to help out.

As soon as I stepped out of the elevator, I saw Rachel waiting at my door, arms loaded with several bags.

But those bags were all empty. I knew exactly what that meant. She wasn't here to bring anything over; she was here to help herself to my stuff and haul it back to her own place.
