By the time I showed up, I'd pulled myself together.

Adam quickly put some distance between himself and the girl, frowning as he asked why I was there.

"So, is she the one you're entertaining tonight?" I asked, keeping my gaze steady on them.

Up close, the girl wasn't drop-dead gorgeous, but her skin looked so tender. Her eyes were crystal clear, and she oozed that fresh, youthful energy.
