As soon as Pearl spoke, all the other concubines turned to look our way.

I stared at her, my eyes flashing with murderous intent. Idiot!

Francis gave me a nervous glance, grabbed her hand, and said, "Don't say anything reckless. Let's go!"

Pearl shot me a smug look.

Judy looked furious. "Your Highness, they're way out of line. Everyone in this palace is just waiting for you to slip up, and Mrs. Howell doesn't even bother to check on you; she just lets Pearl say whatever she wants."
