By the time Eric got home, I was already fast asleep. He woke me up, clearly annoyed.

He shouted, "Emma, your boyfriend's out late at night, and you don't even care? My buddies' girlfriends keep blowing up their phones, but you? Not a single call. What's up with you?"

I looked at him, totally confused, not getting why he was so pissed.

Back when I used to check up on him all the time, he'd always say, "I'm dating you, not locked up. Can you just give me a little freedom? I can barely breathe."
