The slap made my head snap to the side.

My ears were ringing.

A metallic taste spread in my mouth. I pressed my lips together but still managed to ask, "What did I do wrong?"

That question totally set Edward off.

He grabbed a cup from the table and flung it at me, snapping, "Do you really have the guts to ask? Still playing innocent, huh?"

Shards flew everywhere, slicing the corner of my eye and sending a sharp, burning pain through me.
