Chapter 5

"We're at the airport. Should I pull in, or turn back?" the driver asked.

"Airport," Ryan said, closing his eyes.

He told himself that he was just overthinking it, stressed from everything lately.

The plane took off.

Vivian sat by the window, her eyes bright as she gazed out at the city lights below.

"Ryan, this is my first time going abroad," she said, turning to him with flushed cheeks and shining eyes. "It feels like a dream."

Ryan made a soft sound of acknowledgment and reached over to ruffle her hair. It felt good to be looked up to.
