Chapter 7

"My baby..." I sat up abruptly, trying to get out of bed.

A gentle voice and hand held me back. "Don't move. You're still very weak."

It was Maggie.

She hadn't slept and had red-rimmed eyes.

"Maggie, where is my child? Are they okay?" my voice was choked with sobs.

Maggie took my hand and gave me a reassuring smile.

"Don't worry. Both babies are fine.

"The doctor said you were exhausted and not eating well, nearly causing a miscarriage.

"But luckily, you got here in time, and both babies are safe."
