Chapter 4

That night, Ethan came over.

He didn't ask about anything and just pulled me into a hug. "So, is the house hunting this weekend settled?"

"Yes," I replied.

"Alright, then we'll go."

I leaned against Ethan's shoulder, and that little hope I had inside finally shattered.

I wasn't waiting for my parents to make things right for me anymore.

From now on, I'd go my own way.

She called three times. On the fourth, I finally answered.

"Wendy, what's with your attitude?" Her voice was sharp, cracking with emotion.
