Chapter 5

On the day of the mock exam, Edwin was even more nervous than I was. His hands hung at his sides, trembling almost imperceptibly.

"They say your first mock exam sets the tone for the SATs. What if I mess up and let you down after everything you've done for me?" Edwin said.

I gestured for him to lower his head, and then kissed his forehead.

"You can do it. I believe in you," I said.

Edwin's hands had finally stopped shaking, but he was so out of it that he could barely keep his balance as he walked.
