Chapter 4

I kept tossing and turning until Charles finally spoke up.

"Can't sleep?"

I stilled and apologized. "Sorry, Mr. Bennett. Am I keeping you up?"

Should I move to the couch?

He was lying flat on his back, exactly the same position he had been in when he first got into bed.

"Why are you calling me, Mr. Bennett? Aren't we married?"

"Sorry, I'm just used to it."

I remembered he had said he was a very traditional person, so I tried, a little awkwardly, "Honey?"

Silence stretched out. Just when I thought he had fallen asleep, he answered softly.

"Mm."
