In the car, Edward carefully examined my ankle. "It's really swollen. We should probably get an X-ray at the hospital."

"Is it that serious?" I asked, unsure.

Edward looked serious. "How bad it is isn't for you to decide. Let the doctor make that call."

He drove straight to the ER. The X-ray showed no fracture, but my ligaments were badly sprained.

The doctor immobilized my ankle and told me to stay off it for at least two weeks.

On the way home, Edward barely said a word.
