When I woke up in the hospital, the first thing I saw was my mother's eyes, all red from crying.

"I'm okay," I croaked.

After I managed to get my parents to leave, the door swung open, and in walked Daniel.

"Well, look who's still kicking," he said.

I shut my eyes, not even having the energy to fire back at his jokes.

Right behind him came Edward. His face had a mess of bruises and blotches on it.
