Chapter 4

Samuel couldn't see what was on the phone.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

Edward's expression relaxed just a little.

It was like a drowning man finally grabbing a lifeline.

"She sent Olivia a message," Edward explained.

"She said she'd leave on her own after tonight."

Samuel was stunned.

"What does it mean?" he asked.

"She might've already found somewhere to stay," Edward said. "Or maybe she went to another city."

Edward spoke quickly, as if saying it with enough certainty would make it true.

"She's avoiding us on purpose," Edward said. "Once she's had time to cool off, she'll come back."
