In the fifth year of helping Simon rebuild his life from the ground up, I was arguing with someone, my face flushed, over a two-dollar parking fee. Standing beside me, Simon suddenly said, "Yesterday, I bought your best friend, Vivian, a one-million-dollar car." I froze, wondering if I'd misheard him. Before I could speak, he pointed at the parking spot in front of us. "That's where I parked it. She was so happy she wrapped herself around me and begged for it seven times. I ran out of protection in the end, so I just gave it to her." His face lingered with satisfaction. "Remember when you called me home for dinner and asked where that cat-like noise was coming from? That was me going too hard. She couldn't hold it in, screaming like she was in heat." My voice trembled. "You have money… so why…" Simon seemed to know exactly what I was going to ask. He let out a light laugh. "Silly Amy, it's because your dear friend spends too much. If she knew how to be frugal, you wouldn't be stressing over a few dollars in parking fees." As he spoke, he looked me up and down, his eyes filled with a disgust I had never seen before. "And stop going around giving foot massages to those old men. She's pregnant with my child. Anyway, you've got all those service certifications. Serving anyone is still serving, right?"
