By seven in the evening, the conference room at the Golden Hotel was already packed.

Murray's parents, Yves and Melissa, my parents, Jeffrey and Evelyn, and a few couples from our social circle were all there.

Murray was the last to arrive, looking a bit surprised by the crowd.

"Elizabeth, why is it so formal?" he whispered to me.

"Well, it's a family gathering, so of course I wanted to make it special," I replied with a smile.
