The tip of the knife stopped a fraction of an inch from James's cheek.

My hand was shaking so badly that I couldn't stab him at all.

It wasn't out of pity; it was pure logic.

If I really hurt James now, it would only make Zack, that sly old fox, suspicious.

Surrender that came too easily was always the least trustworthy.
