Chapter 4

The sirens stopped. The rushing footsteps faded into a steady machine beep.

When I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was the stark white ceiling.

Then, the door burst open.

Callum rushed in. His hair was a mess. He looked absolutely terrified.

"Claire," he gasped, running straight to my bedside.

I didn't look at him.

I looked past him, straight at the doctor in the corner.

"My baby," I whispered. "Is my baby okay?"

"The baby is stable, Claire."Dr. Evans said gently. "We stopped the bleeding."

Callum let out a massive sigh of relief.
