Chapter 1
"Yesterday afternoon, two more bodies were found.
Each matching to one of the missing victims.
But others say 4 more people have gone missing within the last few weeks."
That's all the news talked about these days.
All about the people that went missing.
Due to him.
The Rabbit.
A lot of people are scared to be alone at night.
To me, I just think it's a bunch of shit.
My friends think I'm crazy when I say this but to me this is just a cover up for something bigger.
They were just using a serial killer to make people focus on that instead.
But of course, my mom was extremely worried of me being one of the next victims.
After the one survivor, she's been on my case for not staying after past dark.
It was around October 16, three days after my best friend, Noah Blake, became one of the missing victims.
I always thought he had gone on holiday, but when his mother said that he never went on holiday, was when my own mother grew worried.
They filed a missing person report, and that's how Noah became the 67th person to go missing.
Ever since that happened, I wasn't allowed to leave the house.
No matter how much I begged and asked, my mom wouldn't let me.
But today, I was sneaking out.
I already had my bag packed and ready.
I double checked to make sure my mom was asleep before I headed out.
I made sure my ID was in my pocket before heading for the train station.
I walked in to one of my favourite bars and immediately showed them my ID to get a drink.
As I waited, I looked around the bar.
I noticed a boy staring at me.
He had black hair and almost doe like eyes but were darkened.
He was just staring at me.
I met eyes with him for a second before I looked away.
'Weirdo...' I thought.
"Ethan Vale!"
I turned to see my friend Ryan walk in. "What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I should be asking you that questions.
Didn't your mom ban you from leaving the house at night or something?"
I shrugged and grabbed my drink when it was placed in front of me.
"I snuck out.
I couldn't stand staying in my room anymore" I said as I took a swig.
"Yeah but, aren't you worried about 'Rabbit'?" He asked.
I sighed and looked at him.
"Seriously?
You believe in that shit?" I asked.
He held a hand up.
"What, you don't?
He's a scary guy.
I mean, he got Noah." He said.
I shook my head.
"Noah is just on holiday.
I know his mom is freaking out but maybe he just doesn't have any service." I said.
"But why wouldn't he say anything?"
"You know how he is."
He sighed softly.
"You still should be worried." He answered.
"He's not real, Owen." I said.
"What do you mean?"
"It's a cover up.
I'm sure all those people died for another reason.
We haven't had a serial killer in years." I said.
"Then what about the one guy that survived?
He said that Rabbit did it to him." He said again.
I looked at him.
"Aren't you the older one here?
I'm surprised you even believe in that." I said before I took another drink.
I glanced around the bar again.
Then, I noticed the boy from before was gone.
I looked around, not to see him anywhere.
"Who are you looking for?" I turned back to Ryan.
"No one.
There was just a weird kid in here earlier staring at me...." I said quietly.
I turned back forward and finished my drink.
After an hour, Ryan was finally getting up.
"I'm gonna head home.
Don't stay out too late, alright?" He said as he patted my shoulder.
I nodded my head.
"Take care."
After another drink or two, I checked my watch.
2:13AM
I sighed softly and paid the bartender before walking out.
I turned down the alleyway I usually took.
I noticed that it started to rain as I sighed.
"Great..." I said.
Suddenly, I heard something fall behind me.
I quickly turned around to look around.
I heard more rustling before a little kitten appeared.
I sighed softly and walked over to him.
"Hey little guy.
Why are you by yourself?" I asked as I bent down to pet him.
He moved his head into my hand.
Suddenly, he looked behind me before running off.
I saw lightning flash as I lifted my head and stood
"So, I heard you don't believe in me."
My eyes widened as I slowly turned around to see someone standing behind me.
He had pitch black hair with a bunny mask on his face.
My eyes widened as I slowly faced him.
There's no way....
I heard him chuckle as he looked to the side.
"You know, most people are too terrified to go out.
But I love people like you." He said, pointing a gun at me.
I let out a shutter as I took a step away from him.
He looked back at me.
"Ah!
Nowyou're afraid!" He said before he laughed.
I took steps back before I turned to run.
He laughed more before he shot at me.
I yelled in pain as I collapsed to the ground.
I grabbed at my leg quickly as the pain grew.
He shot the back of my knee.
I turned towards him as more fear grew into my eyes.
He walked closer to me, gun in hand.
"Get away from me!
!" I yelled as I tried to back away.
I could clearly now see his bunny mask.
"Ah, I love to see the fear in people's eyes." He said.
Then, he put a foot on my chest to keep me down.
I struggled but then he leaned towards me, his face inches from mine.
"I like you.
You're different from the other ones."
My eyes widened more as I tried to struggle away.
Then, he raised the butt of his gun before he slammed it against my head, knocking me out before I could do anything else.
-
My eyes slowly opened to a bright white light.
My head was pounding as I groaned.
I tried to block the light when I realized my hands were bound to the chair I was sitting in. My arms and legs.
My eyes widened as I struggled to try and get loose.
"Morning."
My head shot up to see him sitting in a chair across from me.
He still had his mask on, but this time he had a red stain on the mask.
Blood...
"Please....L-Let me go.
I-I believe in you.
I swe-"
"It's too late for that now." He interrupted me as he stood up.
He fixed the gloves he had on.
I stared up at him as my breath staggered.
Suddenly, he grabbed the back of the chair and leaned me forward.
"You're my little pet now, got it?" He said.
His voice was muffled by the mask.
"If you even try and escape, I'll kill you.
If you try to kill me, I'll slit your throat." He growled into my ear.
Then he pushed me back.
I stared at him as my breathing picked up.
"Put him with the others.
I'm gonna have some more fun." He said as he started walking away.
Suddenly, two black cloaked figures started walking towards me.
I tried struggling again before one of them quickly blindfolded me.
I felt myself get unbound before getting put in handcuffs.
After a few minutes, they threw me into a room, undoing my handcuffs and leaving.
I took the blindfold off and stared at them in fear as they closed the door.
I tried to get up and go after them but I yelped in pain.
I looked down to see my leg bleeding.
The gunshot...
Slowly, I looked up to look around me.
There, were the people that were missing.
I looked around at them all.
They looked absolutely terrible.
"Ethan.....?" My eyes widened as I turned my head to the sound of the voice.
I recognized that voice...
"Noah...?" I asked outloud.
There I was met with the face of my best friend.
His face was covered in bruises and cuts, his arm bleeding badly.
His legs looked to be broken.
My eyes widened as I quickly crawled over to him, ignoring the pain in my leg.
"Oh my god..." I said as I pulled him into my arms.
"No, he couldn't have gotten you..." The older boy said quietly as he held onto me.
I looked up and down at him.
"What the hell did he do to you...?" I asked as I looked at him.
His blonde hair was now stained with blood.
"I tried to leave....His henchmen broke both my legs as he beat me up..." He said.
"He shot you..." He noticed my leg.
I shook my head.
"I don't care.
I'm just so glad you're alive..." I said as I hugged him again.
Suddenly, both of us heard a high pitch scream.
We turned our head to see a girl trying to leave.
Then, there was a gunshot.
She collapsed to the floor as everyone gasped, some letting out a scream of terror.
My eyes widened as I stared at the pool of blood forming .
Noah quickly his his face in the back of my shoulder as he gripped onto me tightly.
I could hear him crying as I stared at the girl's body slowly become lifeless.
"I'm not telling you little fuckers again.
Try escaping, and you're dead." I heard a voice say.
Then he appeared again.
I saw him look around, his bunny mask having more blood on it now.
He looked in our direction before he left.
I looked over at Noah.
"Do you know who he is...?" I asked.
Noah shook his head slowly.
I could tell his entire body was shaking.
"N-No one knows who he is....He's just going to kill us one by one...That's the fifth death I've seen since he kidnapped me..." He whispered.
I looked at him.
Then, I closed my eyes and pulled him into my embrace more.
"Don't worry.
I'll make sure he doesn't get you..."
He held onto my as he hid his face in my chest.
I kept him close to comfort him as I looked around at everyone else.
They all were just as terrified as he was.
I looked back down at him as he kept his head on my chest.
"Don't worry, I'm here." I whispered.
He was still shaking but it wasn't as bad as it was when I first saw him.
"Is my mom okay...?" He asked quietly.
I looked at him and nodded.
"Yeah.
She misses you, a lot." I said quietly.
I heard him whimper as he gripped my shirt.
I lifted a little bit of my shirt to wipe some of the blood off his face.
"When was the last time you slept?" I asked.
He lifted his head and sat next to me as best he could.
"Two days ago I think.
Y-You have to be on guard here." He said quietly.
I looked down at him and carefully wrapped my arm around him.
"Try and sleep then.
I'll keep you safe." I said softly.
He looked at me, then rested his head on my shoulder.
He had grabbed my hand.
I looked around at everyone as they tried to get others to sleep just like Noah was.
I kept him close as I leaned my head back.
I looked around at everyone before I closed my eyes slowly.
