I struggled to push the lid open. Connor wasn't awake yet, sleeping soundly right against the outer wall of my coffin.

Jack stretched his arms out far away, trying to scare me.

"Foolish Connor was afraid we'd drain your blood while you slept," Jack mocked. "He stayed on guard so we vampires wouldn't get close."

He bared his teeth at me in mockery.

"I think you should just go to Connor's coffin and sleep with him, saving yourself an extra coffin," he sneered.
