Chapter 3
In my previous life, I cared too much about appearances. I worried about the relationship between the Sinclair family and the Smith family, so I let those two walk all over me.
This time, I only care about myself.
If someone made me uncomfortable, I'd make sure they pay for it.
Jayden sat in his wheelchair. Although he could not see, I could sense a shift in him. His mood seemed lighter, almost pleased.
He spoke calmly. "Sam."
The bodyguard behind him stepped forward at once. "Yes, Mr. Hunt."
"Take those two away. Do not let them offend my wife's eyes."
"Yes, sir."
Several strong men moved in immediately. They grabbed Elijah and Mia and started dragging them out.
"Jayden, how dare you! I am from the Smith family. Let me go!"
Elijah's voice grew fainter as he was pulled away.
I turned back and looked at Jayden. For some reason, I felt at ease.
"Thank you."
He did not reply. Instead, he reached out his hand toward me.
"Come with me, Mrs. Hunt."

After that chaotic engagement party, I moved straight into Jayden's presidential suite on the top deck.
The cruise ship would stay at sea for three more days before reaching shore.
Those three days would be our honeymoon.
They would also be my best chance to prepare for what comes next.
Inside the room, Jayden reached up and removed his dark glasses.
His eyes were striking. They were deep like the sea, but they held no focus, as if they were still and empty.
When I looked at them, a quiet ache rose in my chest.
In my previous life, those eyes had stared into nothing until the very end.
"Have you seen enough?"
He spoke suddenly, and his voice was cool.
I came back to myself and looked away, a little embarrassed.
"I am sorry, Mr. Hunt. Your eyes are very beautiful."
He gave a short, dismissive laugh. "What is the use of that? I am still useless."
"Who says that?" I walked behind him and placed my hands on the wheelchair. Then I began to push it forward. "To me, you are ten thousand times better than Elijah, who is blind in a different way."
As I pushed the chair, I felt a brief tension in his legs. It was slight, like a hidden resistance, and then it was gone. I did not react. I simply treated it as discomfort.
His body stiffened a little, as if he was not used to someone being so close. Still, he did not stop me.
"Charlotte, you are very clever," he said after a moment. "But clever people often do not live long."
"I know," I replied. I pushed him to the floor-to-ceiling window and looked out at the dark sea. "But if you are not clever, you die even faster."
He was quiet for a second, then he spoke again. "Elijah will not let this go. The Smith family and the Sinclair family have many business ties. What you did today is like declaring war on them. What will you say to your father?"
At the mention of my father, my expression turned cold.
My father, Kenneth Sinclair, only cared about profit.
In my previous life, after I died, he did not seek justice for me. Instead, he accepted compensation from the Smith family. Then he quickly took Mia in as his goddaughter, so he could keep the alliance between the two families.
To him, I was nothing more than a piece he could sacrifice at any time.
"There is nothing to explain," I said, my voice turning cold. "Sinclair Group was left to me by my grandfather. My father is only managing it for now. Since he has lost his judgment, I will take the power back."
Jayden tapped his fingers lightly on the armrest.
"Do you need help?"
I paused for a moment.
Was this really the same "Mr. Hunt" that people called cold and ruthless?
"No," I said, and I shook my head. "I can handle this myself. I only need your name behind me."
He did not reply. He only let a faint, knowing smile appear at the corner of his lips.
