Chapter 2
Michael shouted, "Robbery? I'm teaching you how things work! People like you don't know real life. You think you can skip Amelia's bill?"
Stacy yelled, "Stop wasting time! Search her and unlock her phone with her face!"
Then Stacy lunged at me.
Her long, sharp acrylic nails aimed at my face.
A crisp sound rang out.
And everyone fell silent.
Stacy stared at me, stunned.
Five red finger marks stood out on her cheek.
I shook my hand. Her face is so tough it hurt my hand.
"Susanna! You hit me? You filthy delivery rat think you can touch me?" Stacy screamed hysterically.
She screamed wildly.
I got to my feet, staring her with icy eyes.
"Watch your mouth. I deliver food, but I never took anything from you," I shot back.
Seeing Stacy slapped, Michael felt his authority as class president challenged.
He rolled up his sleeves and jabbed my nose. "You've got a death wish, Susanna! I gave you a chance with Amelia, but since you don't know what's good for you, don't blame us for being harsh!"
He tried to grab my hair.
"Try touching me," I said coldly.
I stared him down, standing firm.
Michael's hand froze.
I picked up my phone, and the screen lit up.
It was a voice message. I played it.
The private room was silent, and the man's voice was clear.
"Honey, I bought the hotel for you. The Centurion Card and more are in your bag, use them freely."
The voice message ended.
The place fell silent.
A moment passed.
Another.
Someone snickered.
Stacy cracked up first.
Everyone burst out laughing.
Michael laughed, barely standing. "Susanna, are you crazy? You grabbed a random guy's photo and said he's your rich boyfriend? He bought you the Regent Grand? Do you know its worth?"
Stacy laughed until she cried. "Tens of billions? You think you can buy it like pocket change? If you're Regent Grand's owner, then I'm God!"
The room burst with jeers and laughter.
"Are all food couriers this arrogant now?"
"Can't even fake a photo right. Talk about exaggerating."
"What an embarrassment. If I were her, I'd want to disappear."
Michael stopped laughing and his face turned cold.
"Enough with the circus. Waiter, watch her! Search her bag! She can pay for this meal."
The waiter hesitated, annoyed.
Someone kicked the private room door open from outside, slamming it hard.
Everyone jumped at the noise.
Two guards in black entered.
They dragged in a woman.
Her hair was wild, her dress torn, and she'd lost a heel.
The security guards threw her onto the carpet like trash.
The woman cried out and looked up.
Her smeared makeup and loose lashes made her look like a hot, ghostly mess.
Everyone recognized her instantly.
It was Miss Harper, Amelia Harper herself, who just ran off pretending to need the bathroom.
Michael froze.
"Miss Harper? What happened?" Michael stammered.
Stacy was stunned. "Amelia, did the guards bother you? Call Mr. Harper and make them pay!"
Amelia lay on the floor, trembling.
She tried to sneak out the back, but guards caught her.
She thought she was done for.
When she saw me unharmed, a vicious glint flashed in her eyes.
She suddenly pointed at me, screaming hoarsely.
"She stole my Centurion Card! She's behind this!" Amelia shouted.
