Chapter 1
After I died, my husband didn't seek justice for me.
Instead, he fell for my killer and spoiled her rotten.
They reveled every night, lost in endless parties and pleasure.
One day, when Pearl Sinclair offhandedly mentioned me, Michael Grant snapped, "Why bring up a dead person? It's bad luck."
Pearl grinned with delight. She thought Michael had truly forgotten about me.
But what she didn't know was that the man who had sex with her was either a madman or a fool.
Michael watched everything unfold with icy detachment, recording every detail as evidence.
Then, at her baby's party, Michael laid it all bare for everyone to see.

"Mrs. Grant, congratulations! You're pregnant," the doctor said with a smile.
I was over the moon.
After ten years of marriage to Michael, not having a child had been the thing that weighed on me the most.
Now, my dream had finally come true.
I couldn't wait to share the news with Michael, but before I could even dial his number, Pearl stormed into the villa with her people.
She smashed my phone and ordered her bodyguards to drag me off the bed and pin me to the floor.
Instinctively, I shielded my belly, desperate to protect the baby inside.
Pearl caught on instantly. Her face twisted with fury as she slapped me hard, teeth clenched.
She sneered, "Are you pregnant? Who do you think you are, you old witch? You think you deserve Michael? You think you deserve to be his wife and to have his baby?
"Go to hell! Once you're out of the picture, Michael will finally notice me, and he'll make me his wife.
"As long as you're dead, everything will fall into place."
She kept curing me.
Her eyes were crazed, totally unhinged.
I stared at her like she was a complete lunatic.
I knew she was obsessed with Michael, and I knew she hated me.
But I never thought she'd actually dare to kill me.
I struggled desperately, but her bodyguards still dragged me up to the rooftop, no matter how hard I fought.
After that, with a casual push, she sent me over the edge.
There was a sickening thud as I hit the ground.
The pain was unbearable.
My eyes were sticky with blood, and I barely managed to turn my head. Through the haze, I saw the roses in the garden, just about to bloom.
They were my favorite flowers.
Michael had planted them all himself, tended to them lovingly, watching over them day after day.
Before he left on his business trip, he told me, "Honey, when I'm back, let's sit together among the roses and have coffee."
Michael, this time, I couldn't be able to keep my promise.
I forced my eyes wide open, unwilling to let go. I was fighting to stay alive, desperate to hold on.
But the rooftop was so high up that it was just too far to fall and survive.
The pain from the impact was unbearable.
I just wanted to close my eyes for a while. Maybe if I slept, the pain would finally fade away.
Maybe it was because I died with so much regret, my soul refused to fade away.
Instead, I left the villa, passed through a sea of people, and ended up right next to Michael.
Inside his office, his secretary stood in front of him, suit perfectly pressed, but there was a faint flush on his face from the drinks.
He must have just come back from a business dinner.
Things perhaps went smoothly because the secretary was all smiles. "Mr. Grant, now that we've landed this big contract, our company's cash flow is looking great. Let's see if that old geezer from the Sinclair family still dares to threaten you with canceling the partnership every time he wants something."
The Sinclair family? That was Pearl's family.
The Sinclairs were one of the most elite families in Metrop. They were not just rich, but also incredibly well-connected and influential.
Michael's very first startup capital came from the Sinclairs.
He'd always been grateful for Pearl's father, Daniel's support and trust, so when he started his company, he made sure to give Daniel a stake in it.
But later, Michael finally realized that the real reason Daniel backed his company was all because Pearl was obsessed with him.
The secretary sounded fed up. "You've got a wife already, but the Sinclairs keep pushing you to have dinner with Pearl. Seriously, they've got zero shame. And if you refuse, they team up with other companies to mess with our supply chain. That's just nasty.
"Honestly, if Pearl was really outstanding, how come no one marries her? She's just some arrogant, overbearing heiress. She's not even in the same league as Mrs. Grant."
My chest tightened, leaving me frozen in shock.
Michael's brows drew together as he gave his secretary a frosty glance. The secretary blinked, not getting it, then blurted out, "Mr. Grant, Mrs. Grant wasn't mad about you going on this business trip, was she?"
Michael froze for a moment, then quickly regained his composure. His tone was clipped and icy. "She's always so gentle. Why would she ever get mad at me?"
But the secretary just looked at him with a sly, knowing grin.
It was like he could smell the guilt on Michael from a mile away.
First off, everybody knew I had a fiery temper.
Second, it was no secret that Michael and I were constantly at each other's throats.
And third, even the secretary knew about the blowout we had before his business trip. I even kicked Michael out of the house.
And what was that fight about? That was exactly what went down.
